不过，由于钢化玻璃内部含有微小的硫化镍颗粒，这种颗粒会随时间推移膨胀，一旦撑破平衡点，钢化玻璃就会在毫无征兆的情况下炸开，碎成小颗粒，就像一些新闻曾报道的浴室钢化玻璃自爆那样。

为了避免这种危险，可以优先选购热浸处理的钢化玻璃，这种处理会通过加温将含有硫化镍杂质在工厂提前“引爆”。在安装时，要保护钢化玻璃的边角，也可以在钢化玻璃上贴上防爆膜，来防止破碎的玻璃颗粒飞溅伤人。

总结下来，便宜的大容量普通钠钙玻璃罐尽量不用，要用的话就小心地将其用于常温存储不需要加热、不产生气体的食品或物品；一旦涉及加热或急冷操作时，建议使用耐热性更好的高硼硅玻璃容器，若是使用场景容易发生磕碰的话就选钢化玻璃。
